Master Bait & Tackle:
Terry reports that offshore fishing is slow with the wind blowing,
but when you can get out in 30 - 60 foot depths, they're catching keeper
grouper and snapper to 10 lbs. Back bays are producing many trout, as
well as pompano, redfish, lots of sheepshead to 7 lbs., and a few keeper
snook. There are also many reports of spanish mackeral running in the
passes. Terry says, "It won't be long and we will be seeing the tarpon
rolling." Call for all your bait and tackle, fishing reports, and Master
Bait T-Shirts.

Cape Bait and Tackle:
Bob says April will be a fantastic time to fish. Trout and
whiting in the river will be great due to the increase in water
temperature. Warmer water will also bring nice catches of cobia and black
tip sharks. Try live shrimp, cut bait, and crabs for tarpon action. Fish
early and fish at night for snook action. Bob had some happy anglers from
his shop; Audry Smith with a 39 lb. snook, Joe Agosta and friend hooked 24
sheepshead at the Sanibel Causeway, Gary Cullin with a 31" snook using
large live shrimp.

Chiquita Bait & Tackle:
Carol reports that good grouper and snapper action can be
had working offshore. Try sardines and cigar minnows. Tarpon are in the
river feeding near the deep holes. Use live pinfish. Steve and Carol catch
their pinfish with hook and line. They are also a Star Rod dealer and will
do great repair work on your fishing equipment.

Hippies Bait & Tackle:
Located right down the street from the Matlacha Bridge, owner
John, says snook are doing well at night off the bridge using live shiners
or live pinfish. Try the flats using large live shrimp for excellent
redfish action. Timing is a major factor. Try one hour before and one hour
after the tide changes.
